Alan Deutschman is one of America’s leading writers on change and innovation. His groundbreaking book, “Change or Die: The Three Keys to Change at Work and in Life,” debunks our myths about this crucial topic and reveals the surprising truths about what actually inspires and motivates real change.

Deutschman is the former Executive Director of Unboundary, a strategy consulting firm whose clientele includes top executives at major companies such as FedEx and Charles Schwab. In a 19-year career as a business journalist, Deutschman has been the Silicon Valley correspondent for Fortune; a senior writer at GQ, where he wrote the “Profit Motive” column; and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, where he has co-authored the “New Establishment” power list for the past decade. Most recently, he was a senior writer for Fast Company.

Beth Roy

Beth Roy is vice president, Magazines & Media for CDS Global. Beth oversees all account management groups for CDS Global in the Consumer and Business-to-Business markets.

Beth began her career at CDS Global as a marketer in Creative Mailing Solutions. Since then, she has partnered with a variety of customers while working in Client Services. Her prior responsibilities also included a key role in the creation of CDS Global’s Engage digital strategy.

Before joining CDS Global in 1993, she had experience in call center management, distributor network sales and direct mail marketing.

Beth graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Business/Marketing. She has served on the executive boards of both the Beacon of Life Foundation as well as the Fulfillment Management Association.

Carrie Roussel

Eileen joined CDS Global in 1987 and has held many substantial leadership positions within the company including Workforce manager for Operations, director of Creative Mailing Solutions, market manager for Enterprise Data Solutions and client sales director for Client Development Services. As director of Marketing, she served as a key executive successfully developing, organizing and launching the company’s marketing strategy.

Guy Rocha

Myth Busting/Getting the Facts Straight

Raised in Las Vegas, Guy received a BA from Syracuse University in New York, MA from San Diego State University, and pursued post-graduate study in history at the University of Nevada, Reno. 

Guy was State Archivist at the State Library & Archives for 28 years.  He received the Award of Merit from the American Assn. of State and Local History in 2007 for outstanding contributions to Nevada history.  The NV Press Association designated Guy its First Amendment Champion in 2009.

Guy has published two books, written numerous articles and book reviews.  He first published the Historical Myth A Month column beginning January 1996 and it is posted on the Nevada State Library and Archives website.  Since 2000, he has a bi-weekly myth-busting column in the Reno Gazette Journal

For almost 13 years, Guy hosted a live, call-in radio talk show on KPTL in Carson City known as the Monday History For Lunch Bunch.  He was a rotating host for the High Desert Forum on Reno-based KUNR, National Public Radio, from June 2001 to June 2008.
Guy has worked with public television station, KNPB, Channel 5, in Reno, and been featured in the The Nevada Experience series and The House with a History series.
Beginning in December 1996, the A&E Channel broadcast a 4-hour historical documentary on Las Vegas, and Guy was interviewed and served as a consultant to the production. 

Guy (GLR Productions) has produced and directed four historical documentaries for the Nevada State AFL-CIO, The Rise and Fall of the Comstock Miners Unions (2003); Goldfield:  A New World Order, Failure of a Dream (2004); They Died to Make the Desert Bloom (2005); and Whose Right to Work? (2006).

JoLyn Laney

Effectively Reaching Today’s Consumer

Ms. JoLyn Laney is the deputy director of marketing and advertising for the Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT), the state agency responsible for marketing Nevada as a travel destination. In this position, she is responsible for the development and execution of the agency’s marketing goals and strategies, budgets, and day-to-day operations. She oversees the marketing, advertising, interactive, and research initiatives.

Under Ms. Laney’s direction, NCOT successfully balances traditional and emerging media to promote Nevada as a premier travel destination.

Google has recently partnered with the Nevada Commission on Tourism on two case studies that showcased NCOT’s effective use of the Google Display Network and Google’s In-Stream Video.
